DocuCopy Integrated ID Card FAQs

+What are DocuCopy Integrated ID Cards?

DocuCopy integrated ID cards are blank or pre-printed laminated ID cards.  They are integrated into the sheet, not tipped on, so they are printable on both sides.

Print fixed and variable information on the sheet and ID card, front and back, in one pass.

+Is the ID card plastic?

The card is a laminated paper card with toner-receptive film.

Film adds durability and tear-resistance.  Stock ID cards are made with sturdy 90# Index / 162 gsm paper.

+I'm worried about durability. How long do the ID cards last?

DocuCopy ID cards are durable and tear-resistant.  The life of the card depends upon the type of use.

They are most frequently used in jobs with annual replacement, such as insurance cards.

+Will the printing rub off the film?

Appropriate settings on equipment should produce good print adhesion.  With good adhesion, print will not rub off.

Every machine is different, so we recommend testing product to determine appropriate settings.  Test samples will ensure DocuCopy ID cards meet your specific requirements.

Contact your DocuCopy ID card distributor to obtain test samples.

+What kind of equipment will print DocuCopy ID cards?

DocuCopy ID cards print on desktop printers, office equipment and high-speed production equipment.  Test samples can help confirm compatibility.  DocuCopy ID cards are not designed for inkjet printers.

For specific compatibility questions or to obtain samples, contact your equipment manufacturer or DocuCopy distributor.

+Doesn't the film build up on the sheet, creating a stack-bias in the printer tray?

With DocuCopy’s exclusive embossing dots, the ID card sheets lay flat and load into the print trays with no bias.

+How do I align my artwork?

Specifications for all ID cards formats are available through your distributor.  Use the specifications to align your artwork properly.

DocuCopy ID card PDF templates are available for our most popular formats.  For Adobe InDesign® formats, contact your DocuCopy distributor.

For testing purposes, test sheets are available complete with artwork.

+How are DocuCopy ID cards packaged?

Protecting blank ID card sheets until printing is essential.  That’s why DocuCopy shrink wraps each ream to keep out moisture and humidity.

Also included in each carton are instructions for proper storage and conditioning.
